Carlos García Noriega
SAGRADA (STEEL SCULPTURE ACTIVATION)
October 30, 2019
García-Noriega develops his works from architectural principles using masterly proportions, plans, materials and different technologies. It is possible to find in the purity of its angulated forms, a filiation with the Japanese origami and the Mexican abstract-geometric sculpture of the last century (Mathias Goeritz or Ricardo Regazzoni). The "Sacred" piece reveres the conscience that society has been losing over time. Through the electric contrasts of light and shadow present in his pieces, we are invited to reflect on the spiritual emptiness, as in the insatiable quest to feed the soul. In recent years García-Noriega has worked in different exhibitions, focusing his discourse on social and environmental problems that are currently being lived, such as the conflict around the border, refugee populations, the extinction of bees, and the spiritual value of obsidian.
